State Election Process

Please read the following explanation of the apportionment process for State Elections

The legal term apportionment (French apportionement; Med. Latin apportionamentum; derived from Latin portio, share) means distribution or allotment in proper shares.

For FJCCSGA, apportionment determines how many votes a campus gets in our state elections. Forget district elections those are governed by different rules, let's focus on our state elections.

The FJCCSGA Constitution says:

“Each FJCCSGA member college/campus shall be allotted three (3) votes for the first three thousand (3,000) students or portion therefore and shall receive one (1) additional vote for each additional three thousand (3,000) students or portion thereof, not to exceed eight (8) delegates and (3) alternates.  If registration allows, member colleges/campuses may bring additional students to the conference who are not delegates or alternates.”

Let's bullet point that quote for clarity

  • Apportionment is done by campus, not college
  • A campus gets three votes for the first 0-3,000 students
  • A campus gets one additional vote per 3,000 students
  • Or one vote for 3,001-6,000
  • One vote for 6,001-9,000
  • One vote for 9,001-12,000
  • One vote for 12,001-15,000
  • One vote for 15,001-18,000
  • 8 votes is the maximum
  • You can register 3 alternates at the conference

Most importantly, you MUST bring this form Apportionment Eligibility Form with the raised seal from your Registrar's Office. Please understand without this form, your campus cannot vote.
