FJCCSGA Constitutional Revisions/Legislative Issues

This is the official resource to explain the processes and procedures for the following:

  • FJCCSGA Legislative Issues

  • FJCCSGA Constitutional Revisions

Legislative Issues

Every year FJCCSGA voices the concerns of almost one million students, and this year is no different. Students from across the State of Florida will submit potential legislative issues affecting their colleges and the FJCCSGA Executive Board will approve those which affect the entire state of Florida. Students will vote on the approved issues at the Legislative Conference in November and those issues will then be included in the Preliminary Issues Packet. Students will discuss the issues included in the packet with their campus SGAs and other organizations and vote once again at our State Conference in February. This is where FJCCSGA will determine its final stance on the issues and provide the students with an Official Statement of Position, which can be presented to their legislators.

Constitutional Revisions

As part of keeping our Constitution up to date with the times, in 2005, it was established that every five years the Constitution Revisions Committee will meet in the fall to discuss constitutional revisions. Students can propose changes to the constitution and submit proposals to modify it via Constitutional Revisions for Smarties. These revisions are looked over by the committee and a final packet is presented to students for voting in February.
